Egypt Targets Expanding Car Production in Egypt Beyond 100,000 Units Annually
The Egyptian government has unveiled an industrial initiative to boost domestic vehicle manufacturing beyond 100,000 units per year within two to three years, while aiming for a 60 percent local component ratio to curb import reliance.

Quantitative Targets for Local Vehicle Assembly
The Egyptian government has announced strategic guidelines to accelerate domestic car production in Egypt, establishing an annual production target of over 100,000 vehicles within the next two to three years. This initiative is part of an overarching framework to empower domestic assembly lines, attract global automotive investments, and broaden the supply of locally built variants tailored to domestic demand.
Deepening Local Components and Supply Chains
A central pillar of the industrial strategy involves deepening domestic value addition by targeting a 60 percent local component threshold. Expanding domestic parts production—such as metal stamping, electrical wiring, and interior furnishings—aims to lower reliance on imported complete knock-down kits, curb foreign currency pressures, and lay the groundwork for exporting vehicles and components to regional markets.
